BVG's Wilde Side

19.06.2016

This year, BVG once again showed its green side at the "Lange Tag der StadtNatur" on 19 June 2016. As part of the green track network, BVG and IASP invited visitors to one-hour discovery tours around the growing greenery in Berlin's tram tracks on Osloer Strasse.
The excursion participants learned from BVG and IASP experts how modern rail infrastructure can gradually bring nature back into the city. The New Berlin Tramway Track (NBS), also known as the "Green Track" or "Lawn Track", has become a trademark of Berlin's public transport companies. On the one hand, it absorbs sound waves and on the other it contributes to urban ecology.
Since 2007, the Stiftung Naturschutz Berlin has organised the "Long Day of StadtNatur". In 26 hours in June, the surprising diversity of the wild city could be experienced at more than 500 events at 150 locations.
